A Day In The Life Of An Affiliate Marketer

by Mama Bear

Live the P.E.A.R.L life!

Being in the affiliate marketing business is so much easier now. Anyone can sign-up to become an affiliate, start promoting on social media, and make commissions. YOU DON’T EVEN NEED A WEBSITE!!

The really successful P.E.A.R.Ls (People Earning a Real Living) are able to make hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a day, working on their phones, computers, or laptops ANYWHERE THEY WANT!

Understand though, it takes work and, more importantly, time to get P.E.A.R.L status.

But when you do, your day could be something like this….

….Upon waking up and after having breakfast, the computer is turned on.

  • New alerts for subscribers! Yes!!
  • New alerts for commissions! YESSS!!

Time to check out the statistics.

  • How many clicks did I get yesterday?
  • What was the conversion rate?
  • Which links are doing the best?
  • Which posts are getting the most engagement?

Time to check if the affiliate program has any new promotional material to use.

  • Many affiliate programs now give you most of the tools you need – banners, promo text, images, videos, etc. – for you to use to promote the product or service. This saves you tons of time so you can just focus on promotion which will earn you commissions.

Time to start the next round of promotion.

  • Free promotion – social media, safelists, exchanges, etc.
  • Paid promotion – solo ads, Facebook Ads, Google Ads, etc.
  • A good marketer will use a combination. Starting out, if you don’t have extra money for marketing, stick to free promotion until you can get consistent sales to help support a healthy marketing budget – $50 to $100/week.

Time flies when you’re having fun….TIME FOR A BREAK

….Alright, break time is over. Let’s go back and check those new subscribers. Did anyone leave questions or comments?

  • It’s always important to answer questions in a timely fashion and reply to comments. People like to know they are dealing with real people and not robots. This will make them more likely to engage with you and build a relationship.

Time to go check in on the Affiliate group Facebook Page. There are always things to be learned as it is a continuous process. Sharing tips and advices is a good way of showing support. There may be others out there wanting to join and may be enticed by the discussion that is going on. There is no harm in assuming what opportunities are ahead.

Nice productive day!

Ok, so the day may be longer or shorter than this, but this gives you an idea of how an affiliate marketer, a dedicated one that is, spends the marketing day.

Do you have what it takes to join the ranks of P.E.A.R.Ls??

Simple Ways to Obtain and Use Moneymaking Keywords

Hunting for the most profitable keywords is no joke to many internet marketers and website owners.  In fact, people will pay good money just to be able to obtain these moneymaking keywords because they know that these can translate to incredible earnings.  If you’re a little apprehensive about paying for keywords, take heart.  There are some cool resources on the internet you can use for free.  That’s right – at no cost!  Here are ways how you can make use of stuff online to hike your popularity factor:

Find out how certain keywords perform from search engines.

Before anything else, remember that not all moneymaking keywords are right for you.  What’s the point of using keywords pertaining to techno gadgets if your website is all about scrapbooking?

Find out which keywords work best for your website and then use search engines such as Google and Yahoo!.  These are free resources you can use on the internet that will give you an idea of how many searches are performed on a given keyword/s and/or keyword phrase.  The number of searches you’ll find will help you determine the kind of keywords that will land you on the SERPs or Search Engine Results Pages.

Submit your website for indexing.

It’s tough to get noticed online especially if you’re just starting your website.  Be proactive about letting others know about you by submitting your site to the most popular search engines.  The three most popular search sites are Google, Bing, and Yahoo!.  Go to their websites and add your URL address, start building your site’s traffic volume and watch your income grow.

Link up.

Another great internet resource that is used by many website owners is linking.  You can exchange links with other websites who belong to the same industry as you or are at least related to the type of business you have.

Linking with other websites is free, fun and very productive.  Consider it as being referred to by a friend of a friend.  If you link your website to a reputable site, traffic from that site can get directed your way.  Imagine receiving just 10% of the traffic from a site that receives 2,000 visitors a day. That’s 200 more clicks on top of the ones you already receive on a regular basis – from one site alone.

Be careful, though.  Some sites with less-than-good reputation can damage yours as well.  Search engines prefer linking sites that offer quality.  If you’re linked up with a site that pulls you down, consider asking that site to remove links to your website.

Use your own resource.

We mean your common sense.  Some keywords have a lifespan while others shine brightest during a particular season.  Keywords such as ‘Halloween costumes’ and ‘costume masks’, for example, are much more in demand during the months of September and October.  When November and December come along, you probably don’t need a free resource on the internet just to find out that certain keywords related to Thanksgiving and Christmas are much more in demand.

Keywords are some of the most valuable resources you can use online.  They can help you build your business and drive traffic to your site.  They can even be a direct source of income for many individuals.

Learn everything you need to know about how to use keywords to increase your site’s exposure from ‘Keyword Research’ from The Barking Videos series.  Using keywords to increase your site’s traffic can be tricky and you’ll need all the help you can get.  Learn as much as you can so you don?t waste your time on keywords that will do nothing for your bottomline.

How To Avoid the 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes

by Mechelle aka Mama Bear

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways to make money online. Through affiliate marketing programs everybody is given a chance to make a profit through the Internet. Since these programs are easy to join and implement, more and more people are signing up to participate. The regular commissions are a pretty sweet incentive as well.

However, like all businesses, there are pitfalls when it comes to affiliate marketing. Committing some of the most common mistakes can cost you both valuable time and potential profits.

Which one?

Mistake #1: Choosing the wrong affiliate

Most people go into affiliate marketing to make the most amount of money as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of a program, they tend to choose a bandwagon product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. This is not a wise move.

If you are going to succeed in affiliate marketing, you should take the time to plan and map out a course of action. Instead of jumping on the first bandwagon you find, try to choose a product that you are truly interested in. Pick a product that appeals to you.

Once you have picked your product, then you should do some research about the product to see if it’s in demand. Promoting a product a product that is in demand and that your passionate about, is much easier than promoting a product just for the sake of a commission.

I like this one, and that one, and that one….

Mistake #2: Joining too many affiliate programs

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join and there are so many out there to choose from, you might be tempted to join multiple programs at the same time. Now, this may be a great way to maximize your earnings later on once you have a solid track record with sales, but in the beginning, you should just start with one.

Even if you decide to go against that advice and do join up with multiple programs, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you FOCUS on ONLY ONE at a time. As an affiliate marketer, you need to be able to concentrate on promotion and understand what is and is not working with that promotion. Once you have a marketing strategy in place that works, then you can replicate it in other affiliate programs, increasing your income potential.

The best way to get excellent results is by concentrating on one program that pays at least 40% commission per sale. Focus all your marketing efforts, strategies, and budget into promoting the product you chose as enthusiastically as you can. Once you are seeing the results you want, rinse and repeat with another affiliate program.

Slow and steady wins the race. There is no need to rush into things in affiliate marketing. Use your time and resources wisely and you will see better results.

Mistake #3: Not buying the product or using the service

As an affiliate, your main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, it’s easier when you can pull from your own experiences with the product or service. Your marketing strategy should be more about convincingly recommending a product rather than just selling a product.

Customers will develop more of a rapport and trust with you if they can relate to you. It could be very beneficial if you were to try the product or service before you became an affiliate. This way you can determine if it delivers what is promised and meets your standards. When you do this and share your own testimony you become more credible. Many customers base their purchasing decisions on sincere and truthful testimonies that trigger them to try out a product or service for themselves.

Affiliate markers who make these mistakes pay dearly. Knowing these pitfalls and how to avoid them before becoming an affiliate puts you well ahead of the game.

Do not fall into these traps. Take the time to analyze the market, the product or service, and your marketing strategy. Avoid the mistakes mentioned and you will be able to maximize your time and resources and earn higher profits through your chosen affiliate programs.

Affiliates, Affiliates….oh my!

by Mechelle aka Mama Bear

Have you considered wading into the world of affiliate marketing? With so many options out there today, make sure you’re asking the right questions first before you join. Do a little research about the programs that you are interested in joining. The answers to your questions should be your driving factors in making your final selection; they will also play a huge role in your success or failure.

Will it cost you anything to join?

Most affiliate programs being offered today are absolutely free to join. Be more skeptical of the ones that charge you a fee upfront.

When does the company issue commission checks to affiliates?

Every program is different. Some issue checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment schedule of choice. Keep in mind that many affiliate programs set a minimum earned commission amount that you, the affiliate, must meet or exceed before payment is issued.

What is the hit per sale ratio?

This is the average number of hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. This factor is EXTREMELY important because this will tell you how much traffic you must generate before you can earn a commission from the sale.

How are referrals from an affiliate’s sited tracked and for how long do they remain in the system?

You need to be confident in the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can verify that you receive credit for a sale. The period of time that these leads stay in the system is also important. WHY? Well, many visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. It’s important to know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done some months from a certain day.

What are the kinds of affiliate stats available?

Your choice of affiliate program should be capable of offering detailed stats. They should be available online anytime you decide to check them out. Constantly checking your individual stats is important to know how many impressions, hits and sales are being generated from your site. Impressions are the number of times the banner or text link was viewed by a visitor of your site. A hit is the one clicking on the banner or text links.

JVzoo is great for affiliate marketing beginners looking for products to promote in their niche.

Does the affiliate program also pay for the hits and impressions besides the commissions on sales?

If you want to increase your potential earnings, you will want to find affiliate programs that pay their affiliates for impressions and hits, in addition to sales. This is particularly important when the program offers low sales to be able to hit ratio.

Who is the online retailer?

This should be obvious, but you should know who you’re doing business with. Is the company reputable? How are the reviews on their products? Know the products they are selling and the average amount they are achieving. The more you know, the easier it will be to decide if the program is for you and your brand.

Amazon is great if you have an online store!

Is the affiliate a one tier or two tier program?

A single tier program pays you only for the business you personally generate. A two tier program pays you for the business you generate plus you receive a commission on the sales generated by any affiliate you sponsor in your program. Some two tier programs are even paying small fees on each new affiliate you sponsor – like a recruitment fee.

Lastly, what is the amount of commission paid?

The commission paid by most programs is somewhere between 5% and 30%. This number can be much higher, like 50% or 75%, or lower, like 1% or 3%.

These are just some of the questions that need to be answered first before you enter into an affiliate program. You should be familiar with the many important aspects that your chosen program should have before incorporating them into your website. Try to ask your affiliate program choices these questions to help you select the right program for your brand and site among the multitude out there.
