A Day In The Life Of An Affiliate Marketer

by Mama Bear

Live the P.E.A.R.L life!

Being in the affiliate marketing business is so much easier now. Anyone can sign-up to become an affiliate, start promoting on social media, and make commissions. YOU DON’T EVEN NEED A WEBSITE!!

The really successful P.E.A.R.Ls (People Earning a Real Living) are able to make hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a day, working on their phones, computers, or laptops ANYWHERE THEY WANT!

Understand though, it takes work and, more importantly, time to get P.E.A.R.L status.

But when you do, your day could be something like this….

….Upon waking up and after having breakfast, the computer is turned on.

  • New alerts for subscribers! Yes!!
  • New alerts for commissions! YESSS!!

Time to check out the statistics.

  • How many clicks did I get yesterday?
  • What was the conversion rate?
  • Which links are doing the best?
  • Which posts are getting the most engagement?

Time to check if the affiliate program has any new promotional material to use.

  • Many affiliate programs now give you most of the tools you need – banners, promo text, images, videos, etc. – for you to use to promote the product or service. This saves you tons of time so you can just focus on promotion which will earn you commissions.

Time to start the next round of promotion.

  • Free promotion – social media, safelists, exchanges, etc.
  • Paid promotion – solo ads, Facebook Ads, Google Ads, etc.
  • A good marketer will use a combination. Starting out, if you don’t have extra money for marketing, stick to free promotion until you can get consistent sales to help support a healthy marketing budget – $50 to $100/week.

Time flies when you’re having fun….TIME FOR A BREAK

….Alright, break time is over. Let’s go back and check those new subscribers. Did anyone leave questions or comments?

  • It’s always important to answer questions in a timely fashion and reply to comments. People like to know they are dealing with real people and not robots. This will make them more likely to engage with you and build a relationship.

Time to go check in on the Affiliate group Facebook Page. There are always things to be learned as it is a continuous process. Sharing tips and advices is a good way of showing support. There may be others out there wanting to join and may be enticed by the discussion that is going on. There is no harm in assuming what opportunities are ahead.

Nice productive day!

Ok, so the day may be longer or shorter than this, but this gives you an idea of how an affiliate marketer, a dedicated one that is, spends the marketing day.

Do you have what it takes to join the ranks of P.E.A.R.Ls??

Simple Ways to Obtain and Use Moneymaking Keywords

Hunting for the most profitable keywords is no joke to many internet marketers and website owners.  In fact, people will pay good money just to be able to obtain these moneymaking keywords because they know that these can translate to incredible earnings.  If you’re a little apprehensive about paying for keywords, take heart.  There are some cool resources on the internet you can use for free.  That’s right – at no cost!  Here are ways how you can make use of stuff online to hike your popularity factor:

Find out how certain keywords perform from search engines.

Before anything else, remember that not all moneymaking keywords are right for you.  What’s the point of using keywords pertaining to techno gadgets if your website is all about scrapbooking?

Find out which keywords work best for your website and then use search engines such as Google and Yahoo!.  These are free resources you can use on the internet that will give you an idea of how many searches are performed on a given keyword/s and/or keyword phrase.  The number of searches you’ll find will help you determine the kind of keywords that will land you on the SERPs or Search Engine Results Pages.

Submit your website for indexing.

It’s tough to get noticed online especially if you’re just starting your website.  Be proactive about letting others know about you by submitting your site to the most popular search engines.  The three most popular search sites are Google, Bing, and Yahoo!.  Go to their websites and add your URL address, start building your site’s traffic volume and watch your income grow.

Link up.

Another great internet resource that is used by many website owners is linking.  You can exchange links with other websites who belong to the same industry as you or are at least related to the type of business you have.

Linking with other websites is free, fun and very productive.  Consider it as being referred to by a friend of a friend.  If you link your website to a reputable site, traffic from that site can get directed your way.  Imagine receiving just 10% of the traffic from a site that receives 2,000 visitors a day. That’s 200 more clicks on top of the ones you already receive on a regular basis – from one site alone.

Be careful, though.  Some sites with less-than-good reputation can damage yours as well.  Search engines prefer linking sites that offer quality.  If you’re linked up with a site that pulls you down, consider asking that site to remove links to your website.

Use your own resource.

We mean your common sense.  Some keywords have a lifespan while others shine brightest during a particular season.  Keywords such as ‘Halloween costumes’ and ‘costume masks’, for example, are much more in demand during the months of September and October.  When November and December come along, you probably don’t need a free resource on the internet just to find out that certain keywords related to Thanksgiving and Christmas are much more in demand.

Keywords are some of the most valuable resources you can use online.  They can help you build your business and drive traffic to your site.  They can even be a direct source of income for many individuals.

Learn everything you need to know about how to use keywords to increase your site’s exposure from ‘Keyword Research’ from The Barking Videos series.  Using keywords to increase your site’s traffic can be tricky and you’ll need all the help you can get.  Learn as much as you can so you don?t waste your time on keywords that will do nothing for your bottomline.

How To Avoid the 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes

by Mechelle aka Mama Bear

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways to make money online. Through affiliate marketing programs everybody is given a chance to make a profit through the Internet. Since these programs are easy to join and implement, more and more people are signing up to participate. The regular commissions are a pretty sweet incentive as well.

However, like all businesses, there are pitfalls when it comes to affiliate marketing. Committing some of the most common mistakes can cost you both valuable time and potential profits.

Which one?

Mistake #1: Choosing the wrong affiliate

Most people go into affiliate marketing to make the most amount of money as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of a program, they tend to choose a bandwagon product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. This is not a wise move.

If you are going to succeed in affiliate marketing, you should take the time to plan and map out a course of action. Instead of jumping on the first bandwagon you find, try to choose a product that you are truly interested in. Pick a product that appeals to you.

Once you have picked your product, then you should do some research about the product to see if it’s in demand. Promoting a product a product that is in demand and that your passionate about, is much easier than promoting a product just for the sake of a commission.

I like this one, and that one, and that one….

Mistake #2: Joining too many affiliate programs

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join and there are so many out there to choose from, you might be tempted to join multiple programs at the same time. Now, this may be a great way to maximize your earnings later on once you have a solid track record with sales, but in the beginning, you should just start with one.

Even if you decide to go against that advice and do join up with multiple programs, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you FOCUS on ONLY ONE at a time. As an affiliate marketer, you need to be able to concentrate on promotion and understand what is and is not working with that promotion. Once you have a marketing strategy in place that works, then you can replicate it in other affiliate programs, increasing your income potential.

The best way to get excellent results is by concentrating on one program that pays at least 40% commission per sale. Focus all your marketing efforts, strategies, and budget into promoting the product you chose as enthusiastically as you can. Once you are seeing the results you want, rinse and repeat with another affiliate program.

Slow and steady wins the race. There is no need to rush into things in affiliate marketing. Use your time and resources wisely and you will see better results.

Mistake #3: Not buying the product or using the service

As an affiliate, your main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, it’s easier when you can pull from your own experiences with the product or service. Your marketing strategy should be more about convincingly recommending a product rather than just selling a product.

Customers will develop more of a rapport and trust with you if they can relate to you. It could be very beneficial if you were to try the product or service before you became an affiliate. This way you can determine if it delivers what is promised and meets your standards. When you do this and share your own testimony you become more credible. Many customers base their purchasing decisions on sincere and truthful testimonies that trigger them to try out a product or service for themselves.

Affiliate markers who make these mistakes pay dearly. Knowing these pitfalls and how to avoid them before becoming an affiliate puts you well ahead of the game.

Do not fall into these traps. Take the time to analyze the market, the product or service, and your marketing strategy. Avoid the mistakes mentioned and you will be able to maximize your time and resources and earn higher profits through your chosen affiliate programs.

Affiliates, Affiliates….oh my!

by Mechelle aka Mama Bear

Have you considered wading into the world of affiliate marketing? With so many options out there today, make sure you’re asking the right questions first before you join. Do a little research about the programs that you are interested in joining. The answers to your questions should be your driving factors in making your final selection; they will also play a huge role in your success or failure.

Will it cost you anything to join?

Most affiliate programs being offered today are absolutely free to join. Be more skeptical of the ones that charge you a fee upfront.

When does the company issue commission checks to affiliates?

Every program is different. Some issue checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment schedule of choice. Keep in mind that many affiliate programs set a minimum earned commission amount that you, the affiliate, must meet or exceed before payment is issued.

What is the hit per sale ratio?

This is the average number of hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. This factor is EXTREMELY important because this will tell you how much traffic you must generate before you can earn a commission from the sale.

How are referrals from an affiliate’s sited tracked and for how long do they remain in the system?

You need to be confident in the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can verify that you receive credit for a sale. The period of time that these leads stay in the system is also important. WHY? Well, many visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. It’s important to know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done some months from a certain day.

What are the kinds of affiliate stats available?

Your choice of affiliate program should be capable of offering detailed stats. They should be available online anytime you decide to check them out. Constantly checking your individual stats is important to know how many impressions, hits and sales are being generated from your site. Impressions are the number of times the banner or text link was viewed by a visitor of your site. A hit is the one clicking on the banner or text links.

JVzoo is great for affiliate marketing beginners looking for products to promote in their niche.

Does the affiliate program also pay for the hits and impressions besides the commissions on sales?

If you want to increase your potential earnings, you will want to find affiliate programs that pay their affiliates for impressions and hits, in addition to sales. This is particularly important when the program offers low sales to be able to hit ratio.

Who is the online retailer?

This should be obvious, but you should know who you’re doing business with. Is the company reputable? How are the reviews on their products? Know the products they are selling and the average amount they are achieving. The more you know, the easier it will be to decide if the program is for you and your brand.

Amazon is great if you have an online store!

Is the affiliate a one tier or two tier program?

A single tier program pays you only for the business you personally generate. A two tier program pays you for the business you generate plus you receive a commission on the sales generated by any affiliate you sponsor in your program. Some two tier programs are even paying small fees on each new affiliate you sponsor – like a recruitment fee.

Lastly, what is the amount of commission paid?

The commission paid by most programs is somewhere between 5% and 30%. This number can be much higher, like 50% or 75%, or lower, like 1% or 3%.

These are just some of the questions that need to be answered first before you enter into an affiliate program. You should be familiar with the many important aspects that your chosen program should have before incorporating them into your website. Try to ask your affiliate program choices these questions to help you select the right program for your brand and site among the multitude out there.

How to Go Viral With Facebook Ads

by Mechelle aka Mama Bear

In your online research, you probably have heard or seen the phrase “Go viral” many times over. One of the most common desires of business owners on Facebook is to post some sort of killer content and wake up the next day, seeing that content go viral.

As an online entrepreneur, having your content go viral is a great goal to have, but understand, it is not as automatic as you think. A lot of people have this impression that if they just produce the right content, that somehow, someway, people will find it, get so addicted to it or find it so compelling, that they just have to share it.

Unfortunately, that thinking is a surefire way to fail. Viral content doesn’t work that way. According to certain estimates, several thousands of hours worth of video content are uploaded daily. There are also over 2 million pieces of picture and text content uploaded every single day.

Going viral is not as automatic as you think.

Not all of them would be described as bad, horrible, crappy, whack, inconsequential, or any other negative adjective you can think of. In fact, a significant portion of this content had a lot of serious planning put into them. Regardless, only a tiny fraction of this material ever manages to go viral.

So what does this mean? It’s not the content that makes something go viral. What does make something go viral? It’s the network.

What network do you tap into?

If you don’t believe me, look at your behavior on Facebook. Chances are you’re following certain pages. Chances are you think certain pages are more credible than others. Maybe they share the same interests as you, or maybe they produce content that you are truly interested in. Maybe you find them dependable and trustworthy as far as their content and editorial policies go.

For whatever reason, you give them the benefit of the doubt. So when they share content that really resonates with you because it fits your expectations, you’re more likely to share their content. Now compare this with random people you find online. They might post really awesome memes, but nine times out of ten, you don’t beat yourself up if you don’t share this material.

A little bit of credibility goes a long way. Credibility is the secret of viral content marketing on Facebook. It’s all about initial credibility. It’s about the person or brand sharing the content more than the actual intrinsic value of the content itself.

Thanks to Facebook’s robust ad system, you can build the authority and credibility you need so people will have a high level of trust in your content. Once you establish that following, people may become so emotionally invested in what you’re doing that they would automatically share your content.

Credibility takes you several steps further towards your goal of consistently publishing content that goes viral. To get the inside scoop on how the Facebook ad system works, and how a rookie like you can launch highly effective campaigns, click here.

This blueprint is written in plain English. It is not intended for geeks or people who live 24/7 on the internet. No, it is intended for rookie entrepreneurs such as yourself. If you’re looking for quick, easy, and intuitive guide to everything you need to launch a Facebook ads campaign, click here. It’s the only guide you will ever need. It cuts out the fluff, and goes straight to the good stuff.

How to Build Up Your Mailing List Using Facebook Ads

By Mechelle aka Mama Bear

If you’ve done any kind of research on online marketing, you probably have come across the familiar saying, “the money is in the list.” I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT STATEMENT. Hands-down, no question about it, email marketing is the “secret sauce” to a successful online business.

The $$$ is in the list!

Yes, I said email marketing not search engine optimization (SEO). Can you imagine that? But truly, SEO can’t hold a candle to the power of email marketing. I can’t even begin to tell you how big of a deal this is.

Don’t get it twisted though, SEO is still a great tool for any online marketer. For example, you’re thinking of looking for a new coffee blend. You go on Google and type in “roasted coffee” and the name of your city; let’s say, “roasted coffee Washington, DC.” What happens next? Under “All” results, Google spits out a list of coffee shops and impresarios in Washington, DC. Under “Images” you find pictures related to coffee shops in Washington, DC. Under “Shopping” you find ads for various brands of roasted coffee. SO COOL….and convenient!

How can Google help you today?

What did we do before Google?!? For any interest, in any service or product you are looking for, you get access to advertising offering what you’re interested in along with services or products that are similar. All of this information is at your fingertips just a click away.

It is no surprise that conversion rates for highly targeted commercial searches on search engines like Google, are through the roof. THEY MAKE MONEY. That is why people spend Billions upon Billions of dollars on Google Ads year after year.

Billions are spent on Google Ads year after year.

Their ad growth rate shows no signs of slowing down. But despite all of this, email marketing is beating the hell out of search marketing. That’s how awesome email marketing is, and that’s why you need to get on this.

I don’t care how small or new you think your business is. I don’t care how limited your social media presence may appear to you. If you are not marketing your business using a mailing list, you are putting yourself at a competitive disadvantage.

The power of mailing lists

So what’s the big deal about mailing lists? How do they generate sales? Why do they produce more sales than search engines? Here’s the thing, when you have an existing relationship with somebody, it’s easier to sell stuff to them. After all, if they accept an incentive you offer or buy something from you, they have already shown interest in what you have to offer. With their email, now you can build a rapport with them and show them other things you have to offer time, and time, and time again.

The list allows you to potentially turn them into a repeat buyer. In other words, the cheapest form of new business is old business. When people sign-up for your mailing list, they are saying to you, in no uncertain terms, that they trust you. They are looking for a relationship. They’re looking to hear from YOU.

That’s why mailing lists convert hand over fist. With SEO, you’re basically converting people on a one-time basis. Basically, it’s a one-time thing, and the next time somebody is looking for something else, they enter into the search engine, and then they convert again.

Not so with a mailing list. You can set up your mailing list to run on autopilot so it’s sending out updates, and every time they like an update they see, they can buy stuff. It is no surprise that people who sign up for a mailing list, end up buying many different products at many different times. The value of each list numbered goes up over time; it’s like real estate.

How to use Facebook to build your mailing list

The great thing about Facebook is that it is a surveillance software. Did you know that Facebook is tracking your interests and your psychological profile when you are logged in? That’s right! It keeps track of the stuff you like, the content that you post comments on, and other indirect indicators of your interests.

What do you think it does with this data? It’s not sitting on it, that’s for sure. No, Facebook has turned all that data into BILLIONS of dollars for the company. It uses this highly complicated information and breaks it down into easy to understand data points, and then blasts it through an advertising-targeting algorithm.

As a marketer for your business, you can tap into this data and use Facebook to target a very specific group of people based on such demographics as: location, age, gender, and interests. For example, if you’re marketing breast pumps and accessories, you’re not going to want to waste your marketing budget on kids, men, or women over 45. That’s not your market. No, you would want to concentrate your advertising dollars specifically on women between the age of 20 and 45 (actual childbearing years) who have shown an interest in breast pumps, baby registries, baby accessories, maternity information, etc. That’s the power of targeted marketing.

The best part to all of this is that Facebook has so much inventory for you to tap into and that inventory is constantly growing on a daily basis. Starting with as little as $5 a day, Facebook advertising can help you build your mailing list more effectively and efficiently. Learn Facebook advertising like a pro!

The #1 system to learn Facebook advertising!

Building A Brand With Facebook Ads

By Mechelle aka Mama Bear

So you decided to start a business? Congratulations on taking the leap into entrepreneurship! Now the fun begins of growing your business and building a brand.

Maybe you’ve created an awesome logo (or outsourced that task to Fiverr for the cost of a burrito bowl at Chipotle) and set-up a website to market your product(s) and/or service(s). Your business cards and flyers have been created and are ready to be shared to declare that you are “Open for Business”. Time to start networking!

Most new business owners start with the usual suspects: family, friends, and neighbors. You might be lucky and also already have networks outside of those groups such as school, work, church, and local spots in your community where everyone knows your name.

You drop your business cards or leave flyers, people talk and network, and sooner or later, enough people will find out what you have to offer. This is how a lot of businesses start; it’s all based on one-to-one, person-to-person interaction.

If the above describes you, here’s a pat on the back. Unfortunately, not everyone is built to be a social butterfly. There are some people who prefer to keep to themselves. It’s perfectly okay to be an introvert; there’s no shame in being shy.

Fortunately for all my shy introverts out there, and a plus for all the extroverts, though a lot of local businesses are geared towards socialization, online businesses don’t have to follow the same rules. There are other ways to reach more people in less time to produce better marketing results.

The importance of building a brand

So what’s the big deal about building a brand anyway? After all, there are lots of businesses out there, not all of them are brands. Obviously, they’re successful enough to make it to the next year. So what is the big deal?

Well, here’s the thing, when you run a business you’re investing your time and resources. Both are valuable and should be maximized for the best results. What if your return on investment from all the time and resources you put into one-on-one interactions didn’t yield the results you expected?

Maybe you’re lucky that your business is at least making enough money to cover the monthly expenses. It’s breaking even. But is breaking even all you want from your business? Don’t you want to operate a business that lives up to its fullest potential?

At the very least, you would want to operate a business that serves as many people as possible, right? If that’s the case, you definitely have your work cut out for you if you’re going to do this on a purely one-to-one, person-to-person basis.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, because businesses do this all the time, but for every one business that is able to pull this off, 99 other businesses don’t. And to make matters worse, roughly 50% of those businesses end up going belly-up.

I know that sounds depressing, but that’s how important branding is. The good news is there’s a shortcut. Using Facebook Ads that are hyper-targeted to your ideal customer base can help build your brand faster and more cost effective.

Facebook Ads allow a targeted audience to see your business. This targeted audience can see that you offer the kinds of products and services that fit their interest.

Now, does this mean that the first time they see your ad that they would automatically click? Of course not. According to many marketing services, prospects have to see an ad at least three times for them to feel that they “know it” enough to want to click it.

Once your audience knows you, that’s when they would be more likely to click on your ad and find out more about what you have to offer. Running Facebook Ads consistently helps you to keep your business in front of your targeted audience, increasing your chances of turning them into paying customers.
